About the Brewery...

Springhead Brewery started out in 1990 as the smallest micro-brewery in England.  Based in a tiny outbuilding on the site of the original brewer's house in the village of Sutton-on-Trent, Springhead beers quickly became so popular that the brewery was moved to a new site.  Here it continued to grow.  Head Brewer Shirley Reynolds is passionate about quality and she has lovingly maintained the character of Springhead beers as the brewery expanded.

About the Beer...

Roaring Meg is Springhead's most popular beer, named after a cannon smelted at a vast furnace in the Forest of Dean.  Firing 200lb cannon balls, it was used with great effect in many battles during the English Civil War.  Like its namesake, this 'big blonde' beer packs a punch.  At 5.5%, it is a strong English Ale brewed with top fermenting yeast, but with pale malts to give its distinctive style, flavour and appearance... reminiscent of sunlight over fields of barley.  With a light, spicy aroma, the hops are immediately apparent and the bitterness builds through the flavour to leave a prolonged peppery taste and a refreshing dryness to the palate.

PLEASE NOTE: As this beer ferments in the bottle sediment will exist.  As a guide store upright and pour extremely carefully.
